Nakatani / Levin / Todd

Arden, DE

When most people think of percussion, they think of hand drums, shakers, some bells perhaps .. tho few approach percussion like international artist Tatsuya Nakatani. His style and experimental approach is so unique, it can only be understood in person. Videos don’t even cover it. Tatsuya Nakatani deconstructs drumming, invoking voices from beyond with bow on cymbal, plates, bowls, and other items.

Experience Tatsuya Nakatani in person, gracefully hosted by John and Jennifer, at the end of the mall. This post-Arden Faire event on Saturday, September 4th will gather at 7 pm.

After a solo percussion set, and a break to meet the artist, a second avant-garde set will happen with Nakatani, Philadelphia saxophonist Elliott Levin, and local keyboardist Dwayne Todd. Levin often plays with Todd in Urban Shaman Attack, in events throughout the region. This second set will be very heavy improvisation, integrating abstract styles from many genres. This trio has never played before.

We appreciate a listening crowd and ask that attendees remain silent during both sets, leaving the communicating to the musicians.

This event is free, tips are greatly appreciated, to help support Tatsuya Nakatani in his US tour.
